Little Gem Reopens as "The Gem"
reported by YNN
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A
Syracuse landmark is being reopened
with a slightly different name and a
new look. The Gem Diner, formerly
the Little Gem, is reopening to the
public on Friday at 6 a.m.
Since the landmark
diner closed about a year ago, the
Gem underwent a full renovation to
cater to more customers. It now has
two new dining rooms and an outdoor
patio, in addition to the original
trolley car, and it seats close to
150 people. The diner also serves
beer and wine and has an ice cream
window.
The Gem has been a
staple in the Syracuse area for
generations and the new owner hopes
the reopening will help to spur
economic growth on the city's west
end.
"We feel this is the
epicenter of the new west end and we
feel that we want to be a part of
that growth and as you look around
you can see there's growth all over
the west side of town," owner Doug
Lalone said.
The restaurant is
located on Spencer Street. |
